A 35th Anniversary Celebration of Joni Mitchell’s Court & Spark featuring Maura Kennedy, Sloan Wainwright, Kelly Flint, and LisaBeth Weber with Maggi Marshall and special guest emcee Gene Shay at Concerts at the Crossing

Maura Kennedy has assembled three of her favorite singer-songwriter friends to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Joni Mitchell’s legendary album. In addition to favorites from Court & Spark such as “Help Me,” “Free Man in Paris,” and “Car on the Hill” expect to hear other classic tunes from the Joni Mitchell catalog, including “Woodstock,” “Both Sides Now,” “Big Yellow Taxi,” and “River.”

Our lineup of performers will also perform their own Joni Mitchell-inspired originals. We’re also thrilled to have Gene Shay, host of WXPN’s The Folk Show with Gene Shay as our special guest emcee. Throughout the evening Gene will share his personal recollections of meeting and spending time with Joni in the late sixties and early seventies when she used to appear at the Main Point in Philadelphia as well as background stories about the inspiration behind many of her most beloved songs.

Admission: $22.00 advance, $25.00 at the door - $21.50 online. Concert starts at 8:00pm

Easy Directions: On Rte. 29, drive South from Lambertville, NJ to Rte. 546 and turn Left. It’s about a mile to UU Church at Washington Crossing from the intersection. At the first light, go straight, then slow down and watch for a yellow Intersection sign. Make the first right after the sign, then a quick left into the UUCWC parking lot.

    •  Enjoyed the old tunes as well as the originals. All performers were great.
    •  I had a great time at the Joni Mitchell Tribute concert. Each one of the four singer/songwriters, added her “take” to the music and in some ways demonstrated the many ages of Joni. There was the young energetic more physical singer in Maura Kennedy. A lyrical singer was the essence of Sloan Wainwright’s performance and a delicate soul could be none other than Kelly Flint. LisaBeth Weber with Maggi Marshall showed the art of compromise where both their voices together had the approximate range that Join Mitchell once had. Too bad Gene Shay the emcee was called away for an emergency because he had some interesting stories about interviewing Joni, in the beginning. The last song, “Circle Game” was my favorite because I like carousels and it is also a metaphor to the Circle of Life. The Encore, “Paved Paradise” hit home because with live in Jersey, the Garden State. Thanks to new member Kristina for having us over to her groovy pad for refreshments, as the young people would say.
    •  It was a great concert with many talented singers and a fun way to spend time with friends.
